On my birthday, September 19th, 2013 I bought a plane ticket with little to no idea of what backpacking or traveling around the world entailed. I had only been out of North America once before and had never travelled alone, internationally. But I was determined and I needed to get away from my hometown for a while to settle my heart, mind and soul.
Two months later, I had packed up a 30 lb backpack and I was on a plane to Dublin, Ireland. Most of the trip had been planned the two weeks prior to take off. Somehow, after Youtube tutorials, hours and hours online, Rick Steves, Couchsurfing requests and lots of prayers I was on my way!
Traveling solo around the UK and Ireland was such an amazing experience and I’m so glad I went (SO FAR) out of my comfort zone to take a chance on the world showing me what it had to offer. It made no sense that I would just pack up and go around the world, alone but now looking back, it was such a necessary step in my life.
They say that a picture’s worth a thousand words, so here are some of my favorites from that trip!
